Can you tell someone’s age based on how they text? No, not what they say in the text, we already know that’s a giveaway. Can you tell their age based on what fingers they used to type a text message?

One TikTok user is saying yes you can! See what they have to say, and if you’re guilty of it, below!

Tell Someone’s Age Based On How They Text

So, how can you tell someone’s age? There are a number of ways you can instantly point out if someone is older than you. How much technology do they know? What apps do they use? What social media platforms do they know? Who’s their favorite celebrities? What finger do they use to type a text message? Of course, some of those are more common indicators than others. However, one TikTok user is saying if you ever use your index finger (pointer finger) to type on your phone–you’re old! At least over 50, according to them.

Do you fall into that category? I typically only use my thumbs but have had to use my index finger before because my thumb wasn’t available, or was dirty, or something. Honestly, it made me feel old! I could feel it when I typed that way. There’s no mistaking it. Young people wouldn’t type that way. The only way I could have felt any older was if I was wearing a pair of glasses that crept to the edge of my nose for me to peer over while on my phone. That’s how it felt.

Have you ever noticed it? Next time you’re around people in their 50s or older make sure to take a second to see what fingers they’re using to type with. Out on a date and can’t tell how old your date is? It would be rude to ask! So, you can’t do that. Instead, just wait for them to get out their phone. Did they user their index finger to type? Then, you are on a date with an old person! Congratulations!
