4th Of July Grilling Wines
Summer is in full swing, and the 4th of July is just days away. Celebrating our nation’s independence is a big deal for most Southwest Floridians. That celebration typically involves grilling out. What beverages do you drink or serve around the open flame? Here are some 4th of July grilling wines sure to compliment whatever is fired up. The wine pictured above is from Italian produce Donnafugata. Mille e Una Notte is a rustic blend of Nero d’Avola, Petit Verdot, Syrah and other indigenous grapes. Perfect for big rack of lamb. In the $100 range.
I always like starting out with a rose or a sparkling wine or both. They are good to enjoy while snacking, waiting for the coals to heat, or the meat to marinate. One thing to keep in mind is the temperature of the wine, even the reds. Don’t let them get warm during your celebration. Heat changes the flavor profile and not in an optimal way to match your foods.
