The Puerto Rican Punisher Saves Dozens Of Lives In Tampa
Things could have gone much differently at the Mons Venus. Today could have been a somber day of rememberance and mourning, filled with bouquets of flowers and police tape, but the Puerto Rican Punisher and his crew made sure that didn’t happen.
By now you’ve seen the video. A large man wearing a mask and carrying a pistol approached the front door of the strip club, determined to get in the doors to do terrible things. That’s when the doorman intervened, putting his life on the line to protect those inside. When the large man in the devil mask walked toward Manny Resto, a former pro wrestler, he initially thought an old friend was playing a trick on him. But that’s when he noticed that the man had a flashlight in one hand and a gun in the other. Manny’s 30 years of being a bouncer kicked in immediately, as he grabbed the man and wrestled the gun out of his hand. As the video shows, it was an extremely tense few moments before the man was held down and the pistol was secured.
Police investigators say the altercation began when 44-year-old Michael Rudman pulled up to the front of the Mons Venus at 2040 N Dale Mabry in Tampa in his silver pickup truck at about 1:15 am. He stepped out of the truck wearing a red devil mask, carrying a gun in one hand and a flashlight in the other. His arms had “KILL” and “darkk one” written on them. As the man walked toward the door, Resto jumped toward him, keeping him from entering the building. As the two wrestled, another security officer was called over the PA system to assist in the fight taking place just outside the front door. That’s when Danny Baham, a second Mons Venus security officer jumped into the fight to keep the suspect down and get the pistol.
In an interview following the attack, resto told media “I decided that he was not going to enter the club and hurt anybody”. In all, three security guards held down Rudman until police arrived on the scene. Resto added that the attacker kept trying to get up time and time again, but the security guards held him down successfully. While the entire attack lasted about a minute, Resto and Baham said it felt like it went on for hours. At one point during the fight a shot rang out, but only the door of the building was hit. Except for a minor injury suffered by a security guard during nthe brawl, there were no other injuries reported. No one in the club was injured.
An investigation of the suspect revealed that he had visited the club the night before without incident. There is still no clear motive why the attack occurred. Rudman was arrested and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, battery and possessing a firearm while under a risk protection order. Tampa Interim Chief Bercaw called Rusto and his fellow security guards heroes. Rusto, however, refers to himself as a problem solver. Baham said he just did “what they should have done”.
