Man Stole Car After Test Drive in Fort Myers
Police are looking for a man who stole another man’s car after taking it for a test drive in Fort Myers.
Christopher Leman of Lee County tells WINK News that he was planning to sell his Audi S4 for extra holiday cash. But, that all changed when an unidentified man took off with his car on Sunday.
According to reports, Leman says the man told him he wanted to buy the car for his son. They went for a test drive and stopped at a local mechanic shop so that he could show the car to a friend, but the friend never showed up. Then the man asked him if he could do a burnout with the vehicle, but drove off with the car instead.
Leman told WINK that he and his wife began following the suspect, but gave up after seeing him swerve in and out of traffic.
Police say he was last spotted in Gateway on Daniels Parkway and the Lee County Sheriff’s Office is still searching for the suspect. If you have any information, police are asking you contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-780-TIPS (8477).
