The 3 Days Fireworks Are Legal In Florida
Up until last year, fireworks in Florida were only allowed if you were using them to scare away birds from crops. And while I’m sure you bought them and set them off, legal they were not.
But since the new law went into effect in April of 2020, you can now legally set off fireworks in Florida – but only on three days of the year: the 4th of July, New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day.
If you are planning on setting them off, here’s some tips from the National Safety Council:
- Never allow young children to handle fireworks
- Never use fireworks while impaired by drugs or alcohol
- Never hold lighted fireworks in your hands
- Never light them indoors
- Never point or throw fireworks at another person
- Only light one device at a time and maintain a safe distance after lighting
- Never ignite devices in a container
- Do not try to re-light or handle malfunctioning fireworks
- Soak both spent and unused fireworks in water for a few hours before discarding
- Keep a bucket of water nearby to fully extinguish fireworks that don’t go off or in case of fire
- Never use illegal fireworks
