Lee County Bridge Electronic Tolls Are Here To Stay- What This Means For You
Lee County Commissioners voted today to keep electronic tolling permanent on the Cape Coral, Midpoint and Sanibel Causeway bridges.
Last year, due to COVID, toll collectors were pulled from the booths and tolling became electronic. They also, when they made that change, suspended the $3 administrative fees while paying by plate.
Now, the fees will be reinstated in October. That means that with a transponder the Cape Coral and Midpoint bridges will be $2 and the Sanibel Causeway bridge will be $6. Without a transponder (pay by plate), the Cape Coral bridges will be $5 and the Sanibel bridge will be $9.
NBC2 reports that commissioners will also be meeting to discuss tolls for motorcycles and will possibly do away with the discount, so motorcyclists could soon by paying the same as standard vehicles.
