Florida Man Ran Out Of Ninja Stealth In Samurai Sword Burglary
Samurai sword-wielding Daemeion Grady, 24, may have left more than a lasting impact on his burglary victim, said a report from Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office. A cellphone belonging to Grady containing incriminating information, to be exact.
Grady, a St. Petersburg resident, was arrested Tuesday, May 11th on charges of armed burglary and carjacking. Deputies discovered a phone and replica samurai sword at the scene with Grady’s fingerprints littered all over them, according to the Tampa Bay Times.
On April 20th, 2021, officials received a call around 7:45 a.m. from a man who awoke to a burglar standing in his house holding a samurai sword. The victim’s truck keys were also in the burglar’s possession.
The victim was planning on working from home when he noticed his laptop was missing. From there, the burglar ordered the victim to load up a clothes hamper with the stolen goods and bring it out to the victim’s truck, according to the report.
After doing as he was told, the victim was left alone once the burglar drove off in the victim’s truck. Law enforcement was called shortly after.
PCSO found the phone after obtaining a search warrant for the victim’s residence. According to authorities, the cellphone was filled with photos and videos of Grady.
Grady is currently facing multiple drug charges on top of resisting arrest. Grady’s bail on the burglary and carjacking charges was set at $150,000 each. Grady also has an arrest history in Pinellas County involving drugs, robbery and burglary.
Grady is being represented by an assistant public defender and a not guilty plea has been filed in his defense.
