Kat Dennings: Did She Just Admit To Being In The Next ‘Thor’ Film?
Kat Dennings’ most recent Instagram story may have revealed that she will be in the upcoming Thor film, Thor: Love and Thunder.
In her Instagram story, Dennings was unboxing a Dyson hair tool from @JenAtkinhair, with a hand-written note that reads, “OMG. You’re in Thor.” This, of course, isn’t a definitive announcement — and let’s be real, we’re probably just stretching here, because seeing Dennings as Darcy Lewis in Wandavision reminded us of how great the character is. But it could be an announcement. Maybe.
For those who aren’t total Marvel addicts, Dennings recently returned to the Marvel Cinematic Universe on WandaVision as Doctor Darcy Lewis; she played that character, who was but an intern in 2011’s Thor and 2013’s Thor 2: Dark World. Neither she nor Natalie Portman returned for the third Thor film, 2017’s Thor: Ragnarok, but Portman is currently in Australia filming the upcoming Thor movie, Thor: Love And Thunder, which is due out February 11, 2022.
Though there has been no official word on whether Dennings’ Darcy will appear in the MCU again, Marvel producer Mary Livanos recently teased that the character could pop up anywhere saying, “We love Darcy as this elusive, wacky character, and I find it particularly delightful that Darcy could pop up anywhere in the universe.”
Again: we might be reaching here. Marvel is infamously tight when it comes to releasing news like this. But given that Darcy is such a quirky character, and Dennings has 4.3 million followers on Instagram, it might be a fitting way to announce that her character is back. Besides, she abruptly mysteriously left Westview rather abruptly in Wandavision.
UPDATE: Kat Dennings’ friend @JenAtkinHair just posted another story, noting that she is just getting into the Marvel Cinematic Universe now, and just saw Dennings in 2011’s Thor, which she hadn’t seen before. Her note, “OMG. You’re in Thor” was a reference to that film, not the upcoming Thor: Love And Thunder. Well it was fun to hope to see Dr. Darcy for a few minutes! (Also, this doesn’t rule out her making a cameo in the film; she seems to be a character that director Taika Waititi would have fun with. C’mon, Taika!)
