Triple H on Ronda Rousey Back in WWE: ‘Of course we want her!’
Ronda Rousey may have criticized the “fake fights” in the WWE, but if you ask WWE Hall of Famer and Executive Vice President of Global Talent Strategy & Development Triple H, he’d love to have Rousey back.
In an interview with TMZ Sports, Triple H was asked whether Rousey would ever return to the sports entertainment giant, and he said, “I think Ronda’s in a place in her personal life where she’s figuring some things out. The thing with Ronda is, you never know what she’s saying. Is she attacking the business, really, or is she attacking the business because she knows that’s what will light up our fans who love the business?”
Triple H continued, “You’d have to ask her…You put your promotor hat on for a minute and go, ‘Hey, Ronda Rousey wants to come work for you.’ Of course we want her! Of course we do.”
Triple H added, “She picked it up so incredibly quickly. When you look back at what Ronda did with us, the brief period of time she was with us, her first match was at WrestleMania…Talk about pressure!…I used to think Kurt Angle picked it up faster than anybody I had seen in my life, and at that point in time I hadn’t. She picked it up faster.”
Rousey upset a lot of fans and wrestlers with comments back in April criticizing WWE’s “fake fights.” She shared via Instagram, “Anyone who is outraged by me calling pro wrestling ‘fake fights for fun’ has never been in a REAL fight. While you all are tiptoeing around bruising some pro wrestlers’ huge soft egos — no one is thinking about all the REAL fighters you’re insulting when pretending pro wrestling is somehow on the same level of realism.”
Rousey continued, “Yes, I understand, wrestling 300 days a year for years on end is incredibly tough on the body and a difficult profession — but do you know what would happen if you got in 300 REAL fights in a year? You would be dead.”
