Florida Wants to Raise Smoking Age to 21
The age for buying and using tobacco products in Florida could soon be raised to 21. A Florida Senate health committee on Tuesday gave its unanimous approval to a new bill that seeks to raise the legal age from 18. If approved, the bill will also make smoking in or near public schools a crime. Although the federal government raised the national smoking age to 21 in December, individual states have continued playing by their own rules.
