Florida Sues Planet Hollywood
Florida Sues Planet Hollywood The state of Florida is suing Planet Hollywood for not giving enough jobs to residents. The lawsuit claims Planet Hollywood International officials in 2011 applied for a Florida incentive that was part of the Quick Action Closing Fund program, which offers cash to new businesses that promise to bring jobs to the area. Planet Hollywood was approved for $288,000, according to the suit. However, the company not only didn’t meet its employment benchmarks, but also it “failed to comply with monitoring” and didn’t file required regular reports, the lawsuit claims. As a result of Planet Hollywood’s non-compliance, its contract with the state was terminated in 2016. In accordance with the contract’s terms, the cancellation required that Planet Hollywood pay back the $288,000 — which it hasn’t done, the state claims. Planet Hollywood has not commented on the litigation.
