Foo Fighters Surprise-Release ‘Live In Roswell’ Album
Today was supposed to be the day that UFO enthusiasts and conspiracy theorists were supposed to “raid” the U.S. military base in the Nevada desert known as “Area 51.” Reuters reports that the “raid” attracted several dozen people, “but most did not attempt to enter the site, long rumored to house secrets about extraterrestrial life.”
If you’re disappointed about that, you can console yourself with the knowledge that the Foo Fighters have been in Roswell, New Mexico — supposedly the site of an unidentified flying object crash in 1947 — where they recorded a live set in June of 2005. And today, they surprise released it on digital platforms. The seven track release includes some of their then-new songs from the In Your Honor album, “In Your Honor,” “The Last Song” and “Free Me,” as well as earlier jams “Stacked Actors,” “Monkey Wrench,” “All My Life” and “This Is A Call.”
Area 51 has long been part of the Foo Fighters’ lore: Dave Grohl’s record label is called Roswell and the band was named after “foo fighters” which was the the unofficial name for unidentified flying objects reported by fighter pilots in World War II.
