Pirates Closer Charged With Soliciting 13-Year-Old Girl
- Pirates closer Felipe Vasquez is facing charges for an alleged sexual relationship with an underage girl.
- Florida authorities say the 29-year-old Vasquez sent a video of him performing a sex act to the 15-year-old victim, as well as text messages suggesting they would meet for sex after the season was over. He’s accused of having a sexual relationship with the girl since she was 13 years of age.
- Vasquez was arrested Tuesday in Pittsburgh and is currently behind bars awaiting extradition to Florida. The Pirates have placed Vasquez on leave and released a statement saying they take the charges “very seriously”.
- Vasquez is a two-time All-Star who joined the Pirates in 2016.
