Freddie Mercury’s Family Stand to Make Millions from ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’
Bohemian Rhapsody made a staggering $900 million worldwide, and per Freddie Mercury‘s will, his longtime friend and confidant, Mary Austin, and his sister, Kashmira Bulsara, stand to make a significant amount of money.
Per U.K.’s Express, Austin could earn upwards of $60 million from the film’s gross, while Bulsara could earn upwards up $25 million from the film.
In Mercury’s will, he designated that Austin receives 50% of his share of future Queen earnings while designating 25% to his parents and 25% to Bulsara. Since the passing of Mercury’s parents, their 25% share has now gone to Austin.
Meanwhile, the surviving member of Queen is slated to make around $90 million each from the film.
Since the success of Bohemian Rhapsody, the Motley Crue biopic The Dirt has seen much commercial success, and the upcoming Elton John film Rocketman is expected to do very well at the box office. In other words: Brace yourself, the biopics are coming.
