Green Day is Selling Off a Bunch of Their Gear
Billie Joe Armstrong sold a bunch of his personal guitar gear through Reverb in 2017, and now he’s back selling more. And this time, he’s being joined by Tre Cool and Mike Dirnt and their own treasure trove of instruments.
The Official Green Day Reverb Shop will go live on February 7; it will feature over 100 pieces up for grabs including various guitars, amps, drums, and other odds and ends. Among the items for sale include a rare 1958 Gibson Les Paul Goldtop, a Harmony Stella Parlor acoustic (which was the first guitar Armstrong ever owned), a silver sparkle OCDP kit Cool used on the Pop Disaster tour that he set on fire and the Marshall 4×12 cabinets the band used during the Dookie and Insomniac tours that somehow still have remnants from the infamous Woodstock ‘94 mud fight on them.
So, why sell some of these incredible items? Cool put it pretty succinctly by saying, “If you hoard the right sh*t long enough, they call you a collector. So I’m selling off just a wee bit of the collection. I’m not doing it any justice sitting around when someone could be using this stuff.”
Of course, Cool did express he’s having difficulty saying goodbye to some of his gear saying, “I”m probably just going to buy all this stuff back at like three in the morning, because I’m going to have a hard time parting with it.”
