Details on New Greta Van Fleet Expanded EP
Greta Van Fleet is expanding its debut EP, Black Smoke Rising, with a new package coming November 10.
From The Fires combines the four songs from Black Smoke Rising — including the No. 1 Rock Songs hit “Highway Tune” — with four new tracks recorded during September in the Detroit suburb of Royal Oak, which frontman Josh Kiszka says in a statement “share a theme of basic humanity.”
Kiszka also conceived the cover art for the set, which he says was inspired by the group members’ trips to rural Michigan areas that included campfire singalongs nearly every night.
Greta Van Fleet has been busy on the road since Black Smoke Rising came out, but bassist Sam Kiszka tells us that the group felt it was important to get some new music out:
“Everybody’s been requesting more material, which is great to have that kind of response with people and I guess they’re into it enough where we kind of hold back from the touring and get more in the studio. It’s a difficult thing to juggle, going out to play shows and giving the people more material. It’s a tough split, but we’re finding a happy medium right now.”
Greta Van Fleet plays a pair of sold out shows on October 29-30 at the Troubadour in Los Angeles and has shows booked through December.
