QOTSA Have Hidden Three Pairs of Tickets In NYC For Their MSG Gig
Queens of the Stone Age is having some fun with fans as the group prepares for its Madison Square Garden show tonight (October 24) in New York City.
The group has hidden three pairs of tickets in three different city subway stations along the Q Line, near the poles on the platform of each station. Queens and its label, Matador Records, put the word out via social media and have plans to check the seats to see who winds up in them at the show.
The group’s Dean Fertita tells us that while Queens takes its music very seriously it also likes to have fun with promoting it:
“This band has been around for 20 years, and one trick for us is to not get bored doing usual set-ups for records. We want the whole thing to be fun. We want to feel like we’re involved in all of it and doing it our way. The more we can do, the more angles and ways we can get people to look at what we’re doing and become aware of it, I think the better.”
Queens’ new album Villains came out August 25 and debuted at No. 3 on the Billboard 200 chart, as well as at No. 1 in the U.K., Canada, Australia and several other countries. It was also the No. 1 selling vinyl album in the U.S., U.K. and Germany. The Madison Square Garden show wraps up this leg of the tour, which resumes January 22 in Victoria, B.C.
