Kid Rock May Have Just Broken The Law Without Even Realizing It
Kid Rock has been open about his interest in running for a seat in the United States Senate, but because he has yet to register as a candidate, he may be in violation of federal election law.
According to the Detroit Free Press, a watchdog group filed a complaint with the Federal Election Commission, asking the group to look into the matter.
The watchdog group points out that the artist, whose legal name is Robert Ritchie, is selling merchandise that insinuates he is running for Senate, and therefore, must register as a candidate and disclose funds raised by the campaign.
Ritchie responded to the allegations by saying he had not yet announced his candidacy. He also added a not so G rated comment to said statement, so we’ll leave that out of our article.
If found guilty of violating election law, Kid Rock could face a fine of several thousand dollars.
