Police Release Full Report on Chris Cornell’s Death
A bit more information, though nothing particularly new or illuminating, has been revealed about Chris Cornell‘s death on May 18 in Detroit.
Following Freedom of Information Act requests filed by Detroit news outlets, the 911 call from an employee at the MGM Grand Casino and Hotel as well as explicit photos from the scene have been released. In the call the employee tells a 911 operator that, “I have an un-responsive guest in the hotel, a 50-year-old male inside Room 1136…They found out that the guest is attempting to hang himself, so they’re trying to get him down so they can assist with CPR.”
Other documents chronicle the fact that Cornell’s wife Vicky called bodyguard Martin Kristen “because (Cornell) did not sound like he was okay” when she spoke with the singer after his concert at Detroit’s Fox Theatre. Kristen kicked down the hotel room door and the bathroom door and found Cornell hanging from a shower bar with an elastic exercise band around his neck. Cornell’s death was ruled a suicide, while toxicology reports showed there were a number of prescription drugs in his system.
Vicky Cornell recently granted an interview to People about her husband’s death blaming the drug use for his decision: “He didnt’ want to die. If he was of sound mind, I know he wouldn’t have done this…”
