Chris Cornell Appearing on New Johnny Cash Album
Fair warning; This one gets a little creepy. It turns out that Chris Cornell will be appearing on another late music icon’s upcoming posthumous album.
Cornell is among the musicians who contributed to Forever Words: The Unknown Poems: The Music, a companion album to the book of Johnny Cash poetry that was published last year.
The project was put together by Cash’s son John Carter Cash and in addition to Cornell includes songs created from Cash’s poems by Brad Paisley, Kacey Musgraves, Jewel, producer T-Bone Burnett and others. The poems were discovered after Cash’s death in 2003, and some date back to 1944, when Cash was 12 years old.
Cash, of course, covered Soundgarden‘s “Rusty Cage” on his 1995 album Unchained. There’s no word yet on when the Forever Words album will be released.
