Royal Blood’s Mike Kerr on Playing New Material Live
Though it’s new album, How Did We Get So Dark?, doesn’t drop until June 16, Royal Blood is back on the road in North America for a set of shows to help preview its sophomore outing.
The tour kicked off Friday (June 2) in Boston and the British Duo will play through the Bonnaroo Music Festival on July 29, then return for another run of U.S. dates on July 31.
Singer-bassist Mike Kerr tells us that he and drummer Ben Thatcher are enjoying having a larger body of material to draw from for these shows:
“Of course. I mean, yeah, the live show is something that has now, yeah, we’ve got these new characters to introduce to it and the dynamics of the show itself have by default increased by ways I can’t say I expected…I look over to Ben during the shows and he’s got a smile on his face, and you can’t deny that, y’know what I mean? You can’t put a price on smile.”
Royal Blood recorded the 10-track How Did We Get So Dark? in Belgium.
