It’s been 30 years since the Sanderson sisters first graced us with their presence on the silver screen. And for the last 30 years, we’ve found spooky fun and joy from Hocus Pocus every Halloween season, including last year when Hocus Pocus 2 came out. As a millennial, I’m sure you can guess that this is one movie I never leave out of my repertoire. You can always count on binge-watching classics like this during the spooky season, especially in my house. So, of course, there are a ton of fantastic Hocus Pocus-inspired items that you can buy.
If you aren’t familiar with the Hocus Pocus storyline, let me give you a brief refresher. The Sanderson sisters are three witches who live in Salem, Massachusetts. That’s right, the Salem we all know and love from the infamous witch trials. When a young girl in the village goes missing, her older brother goes looking for her.
When he finds her at the Sanderson sisters’ hut, he discovers she is drained of her life force. Thus giving the sisters eternal youth. He ends up getting turned into a cat, and the town ends up hanging the sisters during a witch trial, but their curse lives on in the Black Flame Candle.
300 years later, Salem, now-modern, is home to Max and his sister, Dani, along with his schoolmate Allison, whom he is attracted to. They go trick-or-treating, and Max inadvertently lights the Black Flame Candle. The curse resurrects the Sanderson sisters who cause amok. See what I did there? Okay so that’s the most basic plot line for the story, and of course there is a stunning musical number performed by Bette Midler, a creepy hypnosis song from Sarah Jessica Parker, and some iconic lines like “Boys will love me,” “Another glorious morning. Makes me sick,” and “Come, we fly!”
All that to say, that if you love Hocus Pocus and you love spooky season decor and things, we’ve got some just for you. Here are our favorite Hocus Pocus-inspired items that you will love.
