Fort Myers Beach Plans Free New Year’s Eve Celebration With $55,000 Fireworks Display
A huge New Year's Eve party is coming to Fort Myers Beach Times Square at 830 Estero Blvd., featuring an amazing $55,000 fireworks show thanks to some generous mystery donors. There will be free live music at Bayside Park. At the stroke of midnight, a dazzling fireworks show will illuminate the Gulf of Mexico, launching from a floating barge by the beach pier. The Matanzas Pass Bridge shuts down from midnight to 1:30 a.m. on New Year's Day, though Big Carlos Pass Bridge remains open to traffic. The city's running LeeTran buses and free open-air trams during the event. If you drive, paid parking will be available at Lynn Hall Park, on Old San Carlos Boulevard, or under the bridge. While you can grab dinner at local restaurants before the main festivities, remember that personal fireworks and open alcohol aren't allowed outside Times Square.
