Aerosmith Members Reuniting for Performance at Steven Tyler’s Grammy Party
Members of Aerosmith are reuniting for a performance at Jam for Janie, Steven Tyler’s Grammy Awards viewing party that benefits his Janie’s Fund charity.
Per Billboard, the confirmed performing lineup for the event includes Joe Perry, Tom Hamilton, Billy Idol, Joan Jett, Linda Perry, Matt Sorum, and Nuno Bettencourt. The Aerosmith reunion performance is being billed as “a special highlight” of the event. However, it hasn’t been officially confirmed that Tyler will join Joe Perry and Tom Hamilton. Additionally, it’s unknown if Brad Whitford and Joey Kramer will make an appearance.
The announced Aerosmith performance is significant since the band canceled their farewell tour in August 2024 due to Tyler fracturing his larynx and a full recovery not being possible.
Since then, Hamilton has said multiple times in the press that Aerosmith isn’t completely over. Speaking with AARP, Hamilton cleared up some things about the future of the band and also revealed things in the process. For example, on a scale of 1 to 10, the bassist lists Aerosmith as being between 7 and 9 on the odds of the band doing something in the future. However, Hamilton says touring is out of the question and is doubtful about any sort of Las Vegas residency.
” … There are a lot of other ways to be and do Aerosmith,” said Hamilton, but he didn’t elaborate on what those ways are.
Janie’s Fund, which gets its name from the 1989 Aerosmith hit “Janie’s Got a Gun,” provides support to girls who have been victims of trauma and abuse. While Jam for Janie will raise money for Janie’s Fund, this year’s event will also raise money for the Los Angeles Fire Department Foundation and the Widows, Orphans, and Disabled Firefighter’s Fund.
Tyler said in a statement, “What the Los Angeles community has endured with these wildfires is unthinkable. Music has healing powers and we hope to bring a moment of joy and levity to our first-responder firefighters and those most affected by the fires. The trauma experienced by the girls we work with is also unthinkable and we will continue to shed light and support the amazing work of Janie’s Fund.”
