New Clip from Led Zeppelin Documentary Released
A new clip from Becoming Led Zeppelin has been released.
In the clip, Jimmy Page, John Paul Jones, and Robert Plant talk about playing together for the first time. The song they played was “Train Kept A-Rollin’,” a blues standard that the Yardbirds helped popularize.
Becoming Led Zeppelin opens in IMAX theaters on February 7, 2025, with select early access screenings taking place on February 5 and 6. Tickets are on sale now at IMAX.com.
In May 2024, it was announced that the Zeppelin documentary had been acquired by Sony Pictures Classics in North America, Latin America, the Middle East, Southeast Asia (excluding Japan), and Benelux. At that time, Deadline quoted a Sony Pictures Classics spokesperson, who said, “We loved this film from the first moment we saw it. It has been nothing short of extraordinary to witness the organic process [director/writer] Bernard [MacMahon], [writer] Allison [McGourty], and their team have taken to sculpt what has turned out to be THE definitive film on the origins of Led Zeppelin.”
News of this Led Zeppelin film first broke in May 2019, which was part of that year’s celebration of the legendary band’s 50th anniversary. At the time, the film was in post-production, and it was reported it would cover the band’s early musical history in the 1960s, their initial meeting and will end with the release of Led Zeppelin II, which famously dethroned The Beatles’ Abbey Road from the top of the Billboard album charts.
Its official trailer was released in December 2024, and it features archival footage of the band, along with new sit-down interviews with Plant, Page, and Jones. Additionally, the documentary features a never-before-heard interview with John Bonham.
