Why Pete Townshend is Disappointed in Oasis Reunion
The Oasis reunion seems to have made countless people happy. Well…countless people, except for Pete Townshend.
The topic of Oasis came up during a recent interview Townshend gave to U.K.’s The Standard. When asked what he thought of the interview, Townshend said, “Well, I’m disappointed … because I really like their solo albums.” Author James Hall brilliantly notes in his piece that Townshend was “echoing the sentiments of precisely no one ever” and that “Townshend the contrarian is alive and well.”
Of course, if you’re expecting Noel and Liam Gallagher to talk about the 2025 reunion tour with the media, think again. A fan tweeted at Liam Gallagher on X (formerly Twitter) earlier this month and said, “I think Noel doesn’t want to do interviews with you because you’re funnier.” Liam replied to the fan, “We don’t want to do interviews coz we’re scared of the media asking us intrusive questions and trying to pick holes in our relationship.”
Of course, when another fan asked, “Why are you not doing an interview,” Liam responded to that with, “Can’t be arsed.” Perhaps the full reason is a little bit of both responses, but you can’t help but respect the Gallaghers for being united in such a way. Then again, if any of us stood to make millions of dollars off of a tour, we all would make sure the tour went off without a hitch.
Oasis announced their North American tour dates on Septebmer 30 for their Live ’25 reunion tour. Cage The Elephant will be the special guest opening act for all North American shows.
Regarding the announced shows, Oasis said in a brief statement, “America. Oasis is coming. You have one last chance to prove that you loved us all along.”
