Ozzy Osbourne Says He’s ‘Not Completely Sober’
Ozzy Osbourne is mostly sober these days. In an episode of The Madhouse Chronicles, a show featuring Ozzy and Billy Idol guitarist Billy Morrison having conversations, the co-hosts talked a lot about drugs. Both of them have histories of drug use and abuse. Morrison asked Ozzy, “Do you feel happier now?” referring to the fact that he is now sober.
“Uh… happier. I’m not completely sober,” he said. “I use a bit of marijuana from time to time.”
“But,” Morrison asked, “You’re not out of your head on coke and booze and all that stuff.”
“No,” Ozzy replied. “I’m lucky, my wife kicked my butt, she would f—ing make my life so difficult” if she caught him with those substances.
Morrison asked if life is easier for him when he’s sober. “Much easier,” Ozzy admitted. He added that when Sharon finds his marijuana, she gets rid of it. And he said, “There come[s] a point where you say, ‘This ain’t getting me anywhere. There’s surely something better than this.'” The two agreed that for anyone struggling with drugs, there are lots of ways to get help. Ozzy noted that AA, or Alcoholics Anonymous, helped him “get sorted.” “I don’t go to meetings anymore,” he said. “Maybe I should, I don’t know.”
Morrison said that it’s ok to ask for help. “That’s the message that you and I have. It doesn’t make you weak if you decide to ask for help.” And Ozzy added, “I can guarantee you, and I don’t give a f— who it is, [doing hard drugs] will bite you in the balls.” You can watch their full, very NSFW, conversation here.
Looking Forward To Ozzy Osbourne’s Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Induction
Ozzy Osbourne will be the first heavy metal artist to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame two times next week. He was already a member of the Rock Hall as a member of Black Sabbath, but this induction will honor his solo career. While Ozzy won’t perform, there will be a huge tribute to him. As we previously reported, the tribute will feature Billy Idol, Jelly Roll, Chad Smith of the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Wolfgang Van Halen, Zakk Wylde, Maynard James Keenan of Tool, Robert Trujillo of Metallica (and a former member of Ozzy’s backing band), Steve Stevens of Billy Idol’s band and Andrew Watt, who produced Ozzy’s last two albums (as well as recent albums by Pearl Jam and the Rolling Stones). Jack Black will also be at the ceremony; it’s likely that he’s making the speech about Ozzy.
The 2024 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony will take place on Saturday, October 19 at the Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse in Cleveland, Ohio. As previously reported, the 2024 ceremony will live stream on Disney+. An edited special will air on ABC at a later date, which will be available on Hulu the next day.
