Josh Freese Pays Tribute to Taylor Hawkins on 1st Anniversary of Joining Foo Fighters
Josh Freese took a moment yesterday (May 21) to honor his first anniversary as drummer for the Foo Fighters while paying tribute to late drummer Taylor Hawkins.
Freese took to Instagram and shared clips from the Foo Fighters livestream Preparing Music For Concerts, which is where he was officially unveiled as the band’s new drummer. The livestream event also served as a warm-up of sorts before the Foos returned to the road for the first time since Hawkins’ death
Freese wrote, “A year ago today, this aired and I got to stop keeping quiet about what had been referred to as ‘the worst kept secret in the music business’ at the time (though I thought we did a pretty good job on our end.)”
He added, “That being said, I continue to miss Taylor, as does the band, his family, friends and the rest of the world. We also continue to try and make the most of the situation by moving forward and doing what we love doing….playing music, honoring Taylor and staying positive.”
Foo Fighters Tour Scheduled for 2024
The Foos are keeping themselves very busy this summer with a mix of festival and headlining tour dates. In June, the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame band will head to the U.K. for a series of shows, followed by festival sets in Europe.
Then, the Foos will return to the United States for a stadium tour beginning on July 17 at Citi Field in New York. A full list of the band’s tour dates is below.
