Tow Truck Tries To Take Vehicle At Traffic Light

Watch as a tow truck tries to take a vehicle sitting at a traffic light! You'd never expect this to happen while sitting in traffic. Certainly, it created a moment of fear and panic.

Thankfully, it was all captured on camera. It's truly one of the last things you'd expect to happen while sitting and waiting at a light. Check out the video below!

According to SFGATE, Jeff Ferland was walking back to his office after some pizza in San Francisco's Financial District when he witnessed a tow truck with flashing lights suddenly pull in front of an occupied car next to a Waymo self-driving car. At first, this probably doesn't seem unordinary. Maybe the person in the car had called the tow truck and needed help. However, not long after he noticed this was not your ordinary situation. Something was up.

Ferland told SFGATE, "At first I thought, oh, that Waymo must be disabled, and this is the tow truck that they've hired to come get it." Then, he noticed that wasn't what was happening and got his phone out to film the scene playing out in front of him.

In the video, you can see people around panicking wondering what's going on. Then, the person in the car rolls the window down and started yelling at the truck driver. Eventually, the car was able to move around the tow truck and escape the scene before being attached to the tow truck. The truck followed in the same direction as the car afterwards.

Turns out, the tow truck is from a company called Specialty Towing and the city of San Francisco canceled contracts with them earlier this year. Since that time, the company has been illegally towing parked cars and essentially holding them for ransom, per San Francisco City Attorney.

They're running from the cops and are sure to already be in a lot of trouble, they don't care about damaging your car during the incident at all.

Sometimes, the videos are captured by news crews in cars, other times the video is captured on camera by a helicopter, and sometimes it's captured by a civilian on the scene. Thanks to social media, everyone is a journalist these days. Hopefully, you can hear the sarcasm in my voice when I write that. Pros and cons to that.

Commenters on the video point out that at least he used his turn signals during the chase. Most don't choose to do that. I'm sure it was appreciated by all parties involved.

He hits several other vehicles on the road during the chase. I certainly would not want to share the road with this person. It's dangerous out there.
