On March 18, the county gave the green light to build a badly needed EMS station in Alva, Florida.

Located on a large 3-acre lot along Iverson Drive across from Palm Beach Boulevard, the project will cost $700,000 for the land plus $20,000 in closing fees.

Right now, just one inland station has been trying to cover the long stretch between Alva and Fort Myers Shores. This gap has left residents waiting too long when medical emergencies happen.

By choosing this key location, emergency crews can now get to calls faster throughout Alva and nearby rural areas. The building will be equipped with modern medical equipment to handle emergencies.

This new station is part of a bigger plan to fix gaps in service across Lee County's rural areas.
