VIDEO: 8 Foot Gator Pulled From A Cape Coral Storm Drain
We know alligators well here in Florida, but captured on video was an 8 foot gator being pulled from a Cape Coral storm drain.
Living in Southwest Florida, seeing gators is not a rare occurence. In my neighborhood in Fort Myers, we have a lake and 2 small ponds, so there’s not many days I don’t see at least one gator either swimming on sunning on the grass around it. I remember as a kid vacationing down here how excited I used to get to see these massive creatures. And I admit, even after living in Florida for over 6 years now, I still do. I’m so fascinated by them. And Cape Coral residents had a shock when an 8 foot gator was pulled from a storm drain.
8 Foot Gator Pulled From Cape Coral Storm Drain
When you think of things commonly found in a storm drain, usually an alligator wouldn’t make the list. But in this case, a monster of a gator, one that was 8 feet long, was pulled out the other day. According to NBC2, one resident in the Cape Coral neighborhood noticed the gator and called police. FWC sent a trapper to the drain to remove the gator.
As you can see, it was one stubborn gator who put up quite a fight, including a death roll. Of course we don’t know why the alligator was in there, but they are very mobile when it comes to searching for food or a mate. Thankfully this one was rescued, crated and sent to a live farm here in the area.
FWC says if you spot an alligator in distress or are concerned about a gator to call the Nuisance Alligator Hotline at 866-FWC-GATOR (866-392-4286). Keep in mind, that unless a gator is larger than 4 feet long, it is not big enough to be a danger to people or pets.
