Jennifer Lawrence Addresses Liam/Miley Cheating Rumor

Jennifer Lawrence wants to clear the air about a years-long rumor about a "secret fling." The No Hard Feelings star made an appearance this week on Watch What Happens Live. During the Monday (June 26) episode, Lawrence, 32, played the game "Plead The Fifth" with host Andy Cohen.

Cohen gave context to the audience, telling Lawrence, "When Miley Cyrus' song 'Flowers' debuted, there was a lot of talk that the music video was referencing a secret fling that you had with Liam Hemsworth while he was with Miley Cyrus." The actress replied, "Not true. Not true, total rumor." However, she did note coyly, "I mean, we all know Liam and I, like, kissed one time. It was years after they broke up. So I just assumed [the music video] was a coincidence."

In the music video, Miley wears a similar gold dress Lawrence wore at The Hunger Games Los Angeles premiere in 2012. Miley and Liam first started dating in 2009 after meeting on the set of The Last Song. The former couple broke up twice in 2010. First, it only lasted for a couple months, but by November of that year, the two split for good. After three years as an on-again, off-again couple, Hemsworth proposed to Cyrus in 2012. In 2013, the couple called off their engagement. Three years later, they were engaged again and by 2018, were married. The marriage only lasted one year before the couple separated and ultimately divorced in 2020. As we previously reported, Miley's eighth studio album, Endless Summer Vacation is a "reflection of the strength she’s found in focusing on both her physical and mental well-being."

While appearing on Cohen's show eight years ago, J-Law already admitted to kissing Hemsworth off-screen. "Liam and I grew up together," she told Cohen at the time. "Liam's real hot. What would you have done?… Yeah, I have."
