Somehow Cooper Is Involved In This Amy Schumer, Alec and Hilaria Baldwin Thing
It all started like this. During the original “Hilaria Baldwin is NOT From Spain” scandal, Cooper, who needs to be involved in everything pop culture like her life depends on it, tweeted this:
Hilaria: “I always said I was from Boston”

Alec Baldwin: “My wife is from Spain” pic.twitter.com/cpQscCKoqO
So, then, this week, comedian Amy Schumer’s Netflix special, “Emergency Contact” dropped where she further eviscerated Alec and Hilaria (Hillary) Baldwin:
“They have a von Trapp amount of children, and they named them all – I’m not sure, but very Spanish names like Jamón, Croqueta and Flamenco and all of this would be fine and beautiful, except that ‘Hilaria from España’ is actually Hillary from Boston. This woman is in no way Spanish. Her parents are not from Spain. No one in her life is from Spain. You’re going, ‘What?!’ Did you think I was just doing a really racist Spanish impression?”
That entire lie being exposed in 2020 caused Hillary Baldwin to get off social media and then admit that she was not Hilaria from Spain, but Hillary from Boston. Schumer had this explanation as to why Baldwin thought she was Spanish:
“So, I’m not trying to bully a sociopath. I have a point, OK?” Schumer said. “I think what had happened was she went to Spain. And I’ve been lucky enough to go to Spain. Some of you have been. It’s great, right? Don’t you love it? I loved it, too. But Hillary from Boston … loooved it!” (Schumer in a bad Spanish accent) “I am going to be from it!”
This isn’t the only time Schumer went after Hillary Baldwin. In 2020 during the whole “I’m from Spain/Boston” thing, Hilaria had another baby, posted a photo and Schumer took aim. Then there was the 2022 Oscar joke Schumer was not allowed to say on TV about the ‘Rust’ shooting.
She made sure to include it in her Netflix special: “My point is that all evidence points to this woman, since she met her husband, has straight up pretended to be from Spain,” Schumer concludes. “And her husband shot someone. So, “find someone who can stand you.”
Buzzfeed covered the whole thing today and included our Cooper’s tweet as part of their coverage. Pop culture goal: unlocked.
