Florida Man Burned Down House, Worried About Vampires
A Florida man was arrested after police say he burned down his own house after being worried about vampires.
Yes, you read that right.
64 year-old Melvin Weaver of Daytona Beach faces charges of aggravated battery and arson.
The story starts earlier in the day, when, according to Local10, Weaver’s wife wanted him committed for mental health reasons, but when police arrived that afternoon, he was acting ok and they were unable to Baker Act him.
But according to the police report, as the night grew on, Weaver became angry, hitting his wife, breaking windows with a cane and yelling that “the vampires are going to defend themselves.”
Weaver then threw insulation from the ceiling onto the stove, setting the house on fire with his wife inside, before grabbing a knife and going to neighbors’ houses.
His wife was able to get out without injury, but the house was destroyed in the fire.
