NBC2 reports that several people in Naples have been the victims of scammers on Facebook Marketplace while trying to buy a washer and dryer.

One woman says that when she asked if it was available, the seller gave an address and asked for a $200 deposit. The woman sent her the money and when she went to the address, realized very quickly it was actually a detailing shop, not a house with any washers or dryers available.

The owner of the shop said multiple people showed up looking for the same thing.

In this case, I'm sure a quick lookup of the address would've been a good idea before handing any money over, and on Facebook (or any online marketplace), it's probably a good idea to not exchange ANY money until the item is in your hand.
