At Corkscrew Road and Three Oaks Parkway, drivers crash more than anywhere else in Estero — 179 times in five years.
Other dangerous intersections include US 41 and Estero Parkway with 165 wrecks, 158 US 41 and Corkscrew Road with 158 wrecks, and 118 at US 41 and Williams Road with 118 wrecks. Three people have died at Williams Road since 2020.
A surge in development has been attributed to the rise in accidents. “The volume of cars on the roads in general has increased drastically,” Kristen Teschke, longtime Estero resident, said to Gulf Coast News.
Regular drivers on these roads report accidents happening weekly during peak hours. Many residents prefer better traffic flow over having stoplights at every intersection.
