There's a trend online where people go up to strangers and say "I heard about you" to see what kind of reaction it gets. It's funny for the audience but they're putting themselves at risk.

Not everyone appreciates strangers confronting them to seemingly accuse them of something. It seems like these internet pranksters are just begging to get punched in the face. Not everyone is a willing participant in the "I heard about you" joke.

What's The 'I Heard About You' Trend?

Pranking strangers is certainly nothing new. The Impractical Jokers make a living doing it and many people have done the same before them. However, you have to be careful who you try to prank with the new trend. Not everyone is aware of the trend, and not everyone wants to be involved.

Someone recently tried the "I heard about you" trend at a grocery store in Georgia and people were not appreciating it. He was really putting himself on the line out there. At any moment any one of these people could have socked them, and it seems like they wanted to. Except for when he ends up complimenting them. Then, they appear to be just fine with it. It's funny seeing all the different reactions and how people respond to being told that on the spot. It would definitely be strange having a stranger come up to you saying they've heard about you. Was I filmed doing something odd online? Am I going viral and don't know it? No, they're just messing with me.

You can check out the viral "I heard about you" video shared by ViralHog below. How do you think you'd react if someone came up to you while grocery shopping and said, "I heard about you?" It would be really confusing. Especially if they're holding a camera in your face.

Some of those people looked like they wanted to punch the person filming! Very few seemed to appreciate the joke. However, you really can't blame them. Leave me alone and let me shop! I don't want to be a victim in your little skit. I just was sent to the store to get some eggs and I'm already in enough trouble as it is. I don't want to be there.

5 Unforgettable Celebrity Pranks

April Fool's Day is almost here and we're celebrating with the best celebrity pranks! Sure, we don't care for April Fool's Day very much around here at Dave & Chuck "The Freak." It's not our sense of humor--but there have been some pranks executed that we can appreciate.

Here are some of the funniest celebrity pranks we've seen. Again, don't expect any from us!

5 Unforgettable Celebrity Pranks

There are no shortage of prank programming on TV and the internet. The art of the prank is as old as time; however, it does seem to be evolving.

Growing up, we had Ashton Kutcher's Punk'd on MTV. For many of us that was our introduction to pranks. Some of the biggest celebrities were pranked in hilarious fashion on that show. You had Justin Timberlake (we'll get to that later), Shaq, Kanye West, and more all getting pranked on camera. It was a fantastic show. The remake didn't quite live up to the original.

Now, The Impractical Jokers are incredibly popular. They do different kinds of pranks than we saw on shows like Punk'd. Instead of messing with celebrities, they mess with strangers and it's one of the funniest shows currently airing on TV. Personally, I'm a huge fan.

Pranks are a big part of Late Night TV, as well. We've seen all of the hosts execute pranks. Jimmy Kimmel definitely does a lot and James Corden had some of the best I've seen, as well.

Of course, pranks aren't always funny. You have to know your audience and there should be an agreed upon set of rules. Making a friend cry might sound funny at the time, but it can be traumatic. That's why many people dread April Fool's Day. Sometimes, you might want to leave stuff like that to the professionals. Not everyone is cut out to be Ashton Kutcher, as much as I would love that face on mine. I mean, I'd love to have his face.

Anyways, here are 5 of the most unforgettable celebrity pranks!

Funny Celebrity Pranks Ahead Of April Fool's Day

David Beckham

I admit, I was never the biggest James Corden fan. However, this is one of the best things he ever did. It's truly hilarious. It's such a well-executed prank. David Beckham is receiving a gift, so he can't be mean about it...but at the same time he has to say something! He's put in such an awkward moment and hilarity ensues.

James Corden

Speaking of James Corden, he may be known for the pranks he pulled but sometimes the pranker becomes the prankee! Katie Couric got him good on this one. I love the way he panics. Good on Katie. He had this coming.

Jennifer Aniston

How could you not love Jennifer Aniston? She's friendly, adorable, and an icon. She's also hilarious and a good sport. She's put in an awkward situation with this interview and comes out on top. I love her.

John Krasinski

John Krasinski and Jimmy Kimmel had some funny Prank Wars. The pair dished out prank after prank. However, this one stands above the rest. All of them are great, but I always found this one funny. Check out the whole collection!

Justin Timberlake

Countless celebrities were pranked on Punk'd. However, one stands above all the rest. Unfortunately, that's Justin Timberlake. He was pranked so badly he was brought to tears...on national television. I'm honestly surprised he signed the release waiver! It goes to show he's a good sport. He comes off more likable in the end and more relatable. That's tough for one of the biggest celebrities in the world! Especially at that time! It's one of the best celebrity pranks ever.

Cort Freeman was born and raised in Metro Detroit. He was named Clarkston High School 2009 Class Clown 13 years after graduating. Totally normal thing to happen. That’s thanks to his time spent as an Intern at Comedy Central and Social Media Correspondent for The Colbert Report. Cort has done comedy across the country, both standing up and sitting down. When he’s not trying to make you laugh on-air and online, he’s probably at home enjoying his favorite shows like Seinfeld, South Park, and The Office. He’s also totally uncomfortable writing about himself in the third person. Cort enjoys writing about comedy, food, sports, and entertainment. So, basically anything and everything.
