Popeyes has great news for anyone who likes football and chicken wings. The restaurant chain announced its Wings for Wings promotion. It promises to give us a free six-piece order of its chicken wings. What's the catch? If the Baltimore Ravens or Buffalo Bills win this year’s Super Bowl, customers will score themselves free chicken wings.
If this happens then participating Popeyes locations will be giving away the free food on February 13. When the promotion initially launched, the restaurant chain said that they would giveaway wings if the Philadelphia Eagles won the big game. However, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers put an end to that possibility with their 32-9 win over the Eagles on Monday.
Wings, and a little wager" at Popeyes
"The best combo in the world is football, wings, and a little wager," Jeff Klein, the chief marketing officer at Popeyes, said in a statement. "We are making a bet with Popeyes fans in the U.S. and Canada that if a football team with wings wins it all, then we will give everyone Popeyes new chicken Wings to celebrate."
The promotion is designed to celebrate the permanent launch of wings at Popeyes. They have five flavors including Ghost Pepper, Sweet ‘N Spicy, Honey BBQ, Roasted Garlic Parmesan, and Signature Hot.
People flooded the comments to express their excitement and disappointment over the promotion. Someone said "Guess i have a reason to watch football now. go wings!" Some comments completely disregarded the teams Popeyes mentioned in their promotion. "Forget those wings…Niners taking it," someone wrote.
If either Baltimore or Buffalo does end up winning the Super Bowl, wing lovers will be able to get one free six-piece order of wings on February 13 (Fat Tuesday) by making any purchase at a participating Popeyes restaurant or through the Popeyes app.
If you're hoping for free wings, go all in for the Ravens, or shout out to Buffalo! If not, Popeyes has got you covered with wings starting at $5.99 for a six-piece.
