Taylor and Prong’s Jason Christopher were on KLOS’s “Jonesy’s Jukebox” promoting Taylor’s solo gig at The Roxy tonight (February 20) when the topic of Nickelback was brought up. Host/Sex Pistols guitarist Steve Jones referred to the Canadian band as “the scapegoat of rock and roll.” (Video of the interview is embedded below.)
Taylor responded in kind with this:
“They really are [the scapegoat of rock and roll.] However, they are passing the baton to Imagine Dragons right now, and I love it.”
Jones then asked who Imagine Dragons were, and Taylor responded, “Well, I’ll tell you what they are, they’re awful...People are slowly coming back to appreciate Nickelback and then turning the irksome ire towards Imagine Dragons...Be prepared for this to turn into 20 clickbait news stories, though, by the way.”
(BTW: Corey wasn't exactly wrong.)
Whether this story is clickbait or not is beside the point, but it does certainly pose an interesting question: Is Imagine Dragons the New Nickelback? Share where you stand by voting in the poll below!
