Marilyn Manson Channeling Johnny Cash For Film Soundtrack
Heaven Upside Down isn’t the only new Marilyn Manson music we’re getting this year.
The shock rocker has covered Johnny Cash‘s “God’s Gonna Cut You Down” for the soundtrack of 24 Hours To Live, a drama starring Ethan Hawke and Liam Cunningham.
“God’s Gonna Cut You Down” is actually an adaptation of an old folk song that was also recorded by Elvis Presley, Odetta and Moby, though Cash’s is considered the definitive version.
Manson band member Tyler Bates wrote the score for the film, about an assassin seeking redemption after being given a second chance at life. The film is due out October 26, while the soundtrack album won’t arrive until December 8.
Manson, who suffered a broken leg and ankle injury when a stage prop fell on him in New York recently, is set to return to the stage on November 5 during the OzzFest Meets Knotfest weekend in Devore, Calif, and then begin a European tour on November 12 in Helsinki, Finland. He’ll make up the postponed dates starting January 10, when he begins another North American tour in Phoenix.
