Simona Halep defeated Serena Williams at Wimbledon today (July 13) in stunning fashion.

Halep won back-to-back sets 6-2, 6-2 preventing Williams from capturing her 24th Grand Slam title, which would tie the record held by Margaret Court. Per the Associated Press, the match took less than an hour.

After the match, Williams said, “She literally played out of her mind. Congratulations, Simona. It was a little bit ‘a deer in the headlights’ for me. So, I mean, whenever a player plays that amazing, you just kind of have to take your hat off and give them a nod of the head.”
