Perry Farrell is, again, nominated for the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame as a member of Jane's Addiction. The influential alternative rock band is one of 15 artists nominated for the 2024 induction class. And if the frontman had it his way, he'd have Cher as part of the 2024 class with Jane's.

Farrell mentioned this in a new interview with Billboard. When asked if he wants voters to finally give Jane's the nod, he said, "That's up to you. If you're gonna do it, check off Cher's box, too." Farrell expressed he'd want Jane's to be counted among rock's greatest bands but noted he doesn't "really get off on trophies."

Jane's Addiction has been eligible for induction into the Rock Hall since 2013. In addition to being nominated this year, they were previously nominated in 2017. Meanwhile, Cher has been eligible for induction into the Rock Hall since 1991 and received her first nomination this year.

2024 Rock Hall Fan Vote

Fans can cast their vote once a day at Vote.RockHall.com for who they think should be part of the 2024 Rock Hall induction class. This year, voting will last through April 26. Unlike previous years, fans will get to vote for up to seven nominees every day. Previously, the choices were capped at five nominees.

The Fan Vote was first launched in 2013. Per the Rock Hall, "There have been over four million fan votes cast over the past 10 years, with 64% of the Fan Vote ballot (35 of 55) earning induction in the same year; and 86% (38 of 44 unique nominations) eventually earning induction. In 2022, the entire Top 5 earned induction – the only time that has happened."

Once voting closes, the top five vote artists in the Fan Vote will create what is called a "Fans' Ballot." It will be counted among the other ballots that various artists, historians, and music industry professionals fill out and submit.

The Rock Hall noted that ten of the 15 nominees are on the ballot for the first time. Those artists are Mariah Carey, Cher, Foreigner, Peter Frampton, Kool & the Gang, Lenny Kravitz, Oasis, Sinéad O’Connor, Ozzy Osbourne and Sade.

The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame unveiled its nominees for the 2024 induction class on Saturday (Feb. 10). After the news broke, many of the nominees issued statements and shared their reactions to the news. Some nominees were thrilled, while others were...well...Liam Gallagher, who had the type of reaction you'd expect.

-Mary J. Blige

2024 Rock Hall Induction Details

The 2024 inductees will be announced in late April. This year's induction ceremony will take place in Cleveland. The exact date of the ceremony is currently unknown, but it will take place in the fall. As with last year, the 2024 ceremony will live stream on Disney+. An edited special will air on ABC at a later date, which will be available on Hulu the next day.

As with previous years, the public will have the opportunity to voice their choice via the Fan Vote at Vote.RockHall.com starting today (February 10) through April 26. Fans are allowed to vote once per day during the Fan Vote period. Visitors of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Museum in Cleveland will also have the opportunity to vote in person. The "Fans' Ballot" from the fan vote and will be counted among the other ballots filled out by various artists, historians, and music industry professionals.

Foreigner

The classic rock band issued a lengthy statement in response to their Rock Hall nomination. In the statement was a personal statement from guitarist/founding member Mick Jones. He said, in part, "I deeply appreciate the recognition from the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame committee ... Getting this news today is an incredible endorsement of what we have achieved over time."

Foreigner has been one of the Rock Hall's most notable snubs over the years. The band has been eligible since 2003, and this is their first nomination.

Mariah Carey

The pop/R&B icon took to social media and wrote, "Beyond excited and thrilled to be among these legendary nominees for this year’s Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction. Congratulations to all!"

Fellow nominee Lenny Kravitz jumped into the comments and wrote, "Congratulations! We’ve come a long way. Honored to share yet another experience with you."

Carey has been eligible for induction since 2016. This is her first nomination.

Lenny Kravitz

Speaking of Kravitz, the rocker reacted to his Rock Hall nomination by writing on social media, "Woke up to this! Grateful to be nominated for this prestigious honor, @rockhall."

Kravitz has been eligible for induction since 2014. This is his first nomination.

Oasis

The only reaction to Oasis' nomination came from singer Liam Gallagher. He wrote via X (formerly Twitter), "F--- the Rock n Roll hall of fame its full of BUMBACLARTS."

This is the first nomination for Oasis, who have been eligible for induction since 2020. If they do end up getting enough votes for the 2024 class, here's hoping the band sends a letter similar to what the Sex Pistols did when they were inducted in 2006.

...Anyway, here's "Wonderwall."

Dave Matthews Band

Dave Matthews Band took to social media to express being "thrilled" over the nomination. The band also plugged the Fan Vote, which the band [inlink id="rock-hall-fan-vote-final-totals" text="famously won when they were first nominated in 2020"].

DMB fans were very colorful in the comments of their social media post. One fan wrote, "If you don’t get it this year…I will kick out all the windows and send fire through this life." Meanwhile, another wrote, "WE RIDE AT DAWN."

Peter Frampton

Another long-overlooked first-time nominee in 2024 was Peter Frampton. The guitar icon shared two social media posts. In the first one, he playfully wrote, "That’s really great! Wait, you mean I’m not already in the @rockhall?!"

Frampton fleshed out his feelings in a follow-up post. He wrote, "Well, I don’t know about you guys, but I’m thrilled to be nominated for induction into the @rockhall. For a long time you, my friends, have been telling me I should be in it. So now that I’m nominated, I’m going to ask you a huge favor. Please vote for me (a lot) at vote.rockhall.com and let’s get this done! Then I’ll see you in Cleveland this Fall. Thank you all!"

Ozzy Osbourne

The Prince of Darkness was grateful for his nomination. He wrote in a statement, "I’m deeply honored to receive this news from the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame. To be one of the few musicians who’s being considered for a second entry, now as a solo artist, is something I could never have imagined. After 44 years as a solo artist the fact that I can continue to record music and receive this recognition is something I am incredibly proud of."
