A number of rock legends have been trending on Twitter today, including Robert Plant, Stevie Nicks, Geddy Lee of Rush and former Journey singer Steve Perry. Of course, when any rock legend trends on twitter, fans fear the worst.

In this case, though, all of those singers are fine. They may have started trending because of a question that Richard Marx asked on Twitter: "Who are the voices you’d describe as truly unique? Who don’t sound remotely like ANYBODY else? My list: John Fogerty, Peter Cetera, Sting, Joni Mitchell, Tom Waits, Michael McDonald, Carly Simon. Carry on..."

That question had a large reach: Marx has over 255,000 Twitter followers. And it inspired fans to tweet about their favorite singers. And when other fans saw that those were trending, they started to tweet about them -- in many cases, without knowing why they were trending in the first place.

One fan suggested to Twitter: "Might I suggest adding 'Not Dead but Trending' in your 'What's Happening' section. Seriously, Geddy Lee, Robert Plant and Stevie Nicks all in one day."

Here are some of the tweets:

Brian has been working in pop culture and media for about three decades: he’s worked at MTV, VH1, SiriusXM, CBS and Loudwire. Besides working as a writer and an editor-in-chief, he’s also appeared on air as a pundit, guested on radio shows and hosted podcasts. Over the years, he’s interviewed the surviving members of Led Zeppelin, the members of U2, Beyonce, Pink, Usher, Stevie Nicks, Lorde… and is grateful to have had the chance to interview Joe Strummer of the Clash and Tom Petty.
