During Jimmy Fallon’s time hosting The Tonight Show, he’s had many successful bits, but this one certainly rocks the most.

Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith, who celebrates his birthday today (October 25) and Will Ferrell have had a playful feud over the years, which mainly stems from the fact they both look a lot alike.  During 2014, the feud finally came to a head and resulted in the drum off below.

Both wearing KISS Destroyer t-shirts, leather jackets and faded jeans, Smith is the better drummer, but Ferrell held his own…sort of.  There seemed to be quite a number of close-ups, so we’re thinking there was a bit of TV magic going on, and Ferrell was pantomiming to a recorded track.  Check out this clip from Zito and Garrett asking Chad about when it all changed for the Chili Peppers.

Despite this Ferrell came out on top, with a little help from some cowbell and a surprise appearance by the rest of the Chili Peppers.
