It sounds like a joke, but this weekend our forecast in SWFL calls for falling iguanas.

If you’ve looked at the forecast for this weekend, you may already be dreading what’s ahead as we’ll see some of the coldest temperatures in years with lows in the 30’s Saturday, Sunday and Monday.

Brian Shields, a meteorologist at WFTV in Orlando, said that iguanas are cold blooded and when temps drop below 40 it can cause them to slow down, become immobile and fall out of trees onto the ground. If you see one, don’t worry, they’re not dead and when the sun comes out they will start to move.

Only in SWFL is there a forecast for falling iguanas…
