Each state in the US has one, alcoholic or non, whether it’s something tourists seek out when they visit or that locals love. Stacker put together a list after looking at state websites, news, culinary profiles, and historic reports.

Alabama- Yellowhammer
Named after the bird, this drink is made with vodka, light rum, amaretto, orange juice, pineapple juice and topped with a Maraschino cherry

Alaska- Duck Farts
Named for the sound people make after drinking one, Duck Farts are made with Kahlua, Baileys Irish cream, and Crown Royal
Arizona- Tequila Sunrise
There’s 2 versions of this drink. The original dating back to the 1930’s is made with tequila, creme de cassis, lime juice, and soda water. The newer version has tequila, orange juice, and grenadine.
Arkansas- Arkansas Razorback
Go to any home game and you will find Razorback fans drinking this cocktail made of vodka, amaretto, coffee liqueur, and spiced rum.
California- Wine
California makes up 81% of all the wine in the US and is the 4th leading wine producer in the world
Colorado- Colorado Bulldog
A bubbly take on a White Russian with vodka, coffee liqueur, cream and a splash of Coke
Connecticut- Moscow Mule
The Moscow Mule was invented by John G. Martin of G.F. Heublein Brothers, a spirits distributor in Hartford, CT

Georgia- Scarlett O'Hara
Named for the world’s most famous Southern belle, this drink is made with cranberry juice, lime and Southern Comfort.
Hawaii- Mai Tai
Nothing says Hawaii like a Mai Tai, and in fact, they were so popular in the 50’s and 60’s there was a rum shortage!
Idaho- Canadian Whiskey
Idaho’s top selling booze is Black Velvet
Illinois- Jameson Irish Whiskey
I’m from there and had no idea this was the case, but Jameson is the top selling spirit in IL

Iowa- Frozen Blue Water Margarita
After Iowa’s West Okoboji Lake, a naturally blue lake, this drink is made like a classic margarita with tequila, Cointreau, and lime but with Blue Curacao mixed in.
Kansas- Horsefeather
Invented in Lawrence, KS in the 90’s, this drink is made with Old Overholt rye, ginger, lemon juice and a few dashes of Angostura bitters
Kentucky- Mint Julep
The official drink of the Kentucky Derby, the cocktail is made with bourbon, sugar syrup and fresh mint.

New Jersey- Jager Bombs
While NJ doesn’t have an official state drink, The Jersey Shore TV show made these pretty popular
New Mexico- Chimayó Cocktail
This drink was created at Rancho de Chimayó in the 1960s and is made with tequila, apple juice, lemon juice and Creme de Cassis.
New York- Manhattan
This drink was created in the early 1880’s at a party held in the Manhattan Club in New York and is made with whiskey, sweet vermouth, and bitters.

North Dakota is one of the top states for beer consumption (I lived there, this is definitely true)
Ohio- Bloody Mary
The official state juice is tomato juice, so it only makes sense that the Bloody Mary is Ohio’s signature drink
Oklahoma- Roy Rogers
Roy Rogers, known as The King of Cowboys, was married at the Flying L Ranch in Davis, OK. He didn’t drink, so this one is made with grenadine, cola and a Maraschino cherry
Oregon- Negroni
There’s an entire week each year in Portland dedicated to the Negroni, a drink made with gin, Campari and sweet vermouth.
Pennsylvania- Craft Beer
Pennsylvania was long the #1 producer of craft beer in the country. PA is now #2 behind California.
Rhode Island- Coffee Milk
Coffee Milk has been a staple in RI homes since the 1930’s and is made with milk and a shot of sweet coffee syrup
South Carolina- Sweet Tea & Vodka
Firefly Distillery on South Carolina’s Wadmalaw Island created the very first blend of sweet tea with vodka
South Dakota- The South Dakota Martini
I learned about this one when I lived in the Dakota’s…take a light draft beer, put some olives in it..and voila…South Dakota Martini

Utah- Root Beer
Brigham’s Brew Root Beer is the Utah’s most popular and made in Salt Lake City by Wasatch Brewery
Vermont- Old Vermont
Vermonters love their maple syrup, so it makes perfect sense that they’d throw it in a cocktail along with gin, orange juice and bitters
Virginia- George Washington's Rye Whiskey
George Washington, a Virginia native, not only was a president, but he also distilled whiskey at his Mount Vernon home in the 1790s and it’s still in production today
Washington- Coffee
More coffee is consumed in Washington than anywhere else
West Virginia- Gin & Tonic
I guess when ‘gin’ is in your state’s name, you have to drink it
Wisconsin- Brandy Old Fashioned
A supper club staple, this drink is made with brandy, Maraschino cherries, orange juice, a dash of bitters and topped with soda
