In a sense of the 'normalcy' we all crave, the LPGA CME Group Tour Championship is back in Naples. It's been less than 2 months after Hurricane Ian ripped through Southwest Florida. Going on as scheduled, the tournament is once again being held at the Tiburon Golf Club at the Ritz-Carlton in Naples. Hurricane Ian hit Florida on September 28th, 42 miles to the north of the course. After the hurricane it was reported that Tiburon had "350-400 trees uprooted, and some flooding." And after only 4 days, the course reopened. Maintenance then focused on the areas outside of play. The Gold Course has always been an absolutely beautiful course so I'm very interested to see how they could get so much work done so quickly.

This weekend's event is the finale of the 2022 LPGA Tour season. According the CME Group website "Players will accumulate points at each official LPGA Tour event throughout the season leading up to the CME Group Tour Championship. The top 60 points earners and ties will then earn a spot in the CME Group Tour Championship, with the entire field competing for the $7 million purse and the $2 million winner’s check, the largest single prize in the history of women’s golf."

The tour made a donation to the Red Cross.  Also, wiith each purchase of a limited-edition CME Group or LPGA-Florida T-shirt, $10 will be donated to the Collier Relief Fund.

Thank you to the LPGA for coming to Naples this weekend. You could have easily been scared away by the images you've seen on tv. For those of us that live here year round, we appreciate you being here. Thank you.
