Caiman Cantina has opened in North Naples, becoming the newest addition to the Phelan Family Brands portfolio, replacing Two Fillets. The concept expands the company's diverse restaurant lineup, which already includes Deep Lagoon Seafood, Chops City Grill, and The Bay House. Designed as a casual, fresh, and festive destination with a Florida sunshine vibe, Caiman Cantina centers on home-style Mexican cooking rather than traditional Tex-Mex.

Founder and CEO Phelan frames the restaurant around authenticity and family traditions. Phelan says, “We built this place around the kind of food families in Mexico have been making forever, [including] recipes passed down and perfected through time — not in a boardroom.” The concept emphasizes scratch cooking, vibrant flavors, and an approachable atmosphere that feels welcoming to families and groups.

Executive Chef Rafael Elisea's menu has many flavors that come from Jalisco, Mexico. Each dish is created using traditional preparations and ingredients, prepared entirely from scratch. Some of the exceptional offerings on Chef Rafael's menu are guacamole crujiente — crispy pork rinds topped with cotija cheese — and camarones a la Nayarita, shrimp in a spicy dried chile sauce served with chorizo & vegetables. Additionally, you can also enjoy pollo en mole, as well as a variety of burritos, enchiladas, tamales, fajitas, & tacos.

The restaurant offers a great selection of cocktails. Some of the ingredients are made right in the restaurant, like tamarind syrups. Other cocktails on the menu are traditional cocktails such as mojito, paloma, and daiquiri, which add refreshing flavor to food while keeping with the casual celebratory vibe of the restaurant.

Early customer feedback has reinforced the restaurant's mission. “What we hear most is how much [the food] reminds [customers] of real Mexican cooking, the kind that tastes homemade,” says Phelan, who notes he's got his eye on a location for a second Caiman Cantina. The success of the North Naples opening signals potential growth for the concept within the broader Phelan Family Brands portfolio.
