Fort Myers Beach Makes Florida’s Top 10 Small Towns List Three Years After Hurricane Ian

World Atlas picked Fort Myers Beach among Florida's finest small towns. 

In its 2025 guide released on Oct. 1, 2025, the publication praised the coastal town's natural wonders. The recognition arrives as this Gulf-side location continues its rise from the wreckage of Hurricane Ian.

Rankings compared beach quality, wildlife viewing spots, and links to state parks. The guide praised the town's rich shelling grounds and water activities in Estero Bay. Short trips let visitors spot wild creatures or catch fish in clear waters.

Sand artists flock here each year for the American Sand Sculpting Championship, turning the beach into an open-air gallery. Nature puts on its own show, too, with manatees and dolphins just off the beach.

Next door, Lovers Key State Park adds to the town's appeal. Its wild shores and winding trails boost the area's natural charm.

The town stands proud alongside Panama City Beach, Mount Dora, and Apalachicola in the World Atlas's picks.
