Did you know that your ChatGPT history could get you in trouble? It's just like a Google search so watch what you're looking up!

For some reason, people think ChatGPT is safe and for their eyes only. However, that's not the case. We've been warned before that ChatGPT history can get you in trouble and there were even reports that it could be used in the court of law. Now, we're seeing it actually happen as a college kid was busted for vandalism thanks to his ChatGPT history. According to Yahoo!, 19-year-old Ryan Joseph Schaefer allegedly damaged 17 vehicles at a Missouri State University parking lot. He then asked his ChatGPT if he could be in trouble for it and that's part of how he was caught and busted! See his mugshot from the Springfield Police Department below.

Yahoo! reports that Schaefer allegedly shattered windshield, ripped off wipers and side mirrors, and dented hoods of 17 cars in the parking lot. The total in damages isn't known currently but it has to be a lot.

Police later went through his phone and discovered the ChatGPT conversation where he described damaging the vehicles and asked if he could go to jail. Turns out, yes you can! Don't search stuff like that on Google, Facebook, or ChatGPT! It can come back to bite you!

He's now being held in the Greene County Jail and if convicted could face up to 4 years in prison. Hopefully he has a good lawyer and isn't relying on ChatGPT.

Cort Freeman was born and raised in Metro Detroit. He was named Clarkston High School 2009 Class Clown 13 years after graduating. Totally normal thing to happen. That’s thanks to his time spent as an Intern at Comedy Central and Social Media Correspondent for The Colbert Report. Cort has done comedy across the country, both standing up and sitting down. When he’s not trying to make you laugh on-air and online, he’s probably at home enjoying his favorite shows like Seinfeld, South Park, and The Office. He’s also totally uncomfortable writing about himself in the third person. Cort enjoys writing about comedy, food, sports, and entertainment. So, basically anything and everything.
